St Georges Day Parade - Bradford

St Georges Day Parade - Bradford

Following our yomp up and down Halifax, Sunday 27th April saw the Corps take on the hills of Bradford for our own Georges day parade.

Meeting in Centenary Square we formed up with our district of Bradford South for what was going to be a very wet march to the Cathedral, as the parade stepped off led by Bradford North our shoes were already letting in water!

Cutting a fine pace through Bradford we quickly lost the back end of the first contingent so had to revert to Phat-Nav as we took on the buses and puddles, approaching Church Bank (mountain) the phat lads dug in and the 2nd contingent arrived safely for the service, where we tried to dry off and warm up.

For the return to Centenary Square, Revolution led the way, with a few old boys joining us for the day we had a very good strong sound which bounced off the high buildings of the City centre, marching into the square we anchored up at the side of the saluting dais and handed over the music to the quickly approaching St Chads band. After the General Salute we formed into an arc and entertained the parade as they dispersed.

Thanks must go to the old boys and ringers who joined us, on Trumpet - Richard and again Mat, on Mellophone - Daz and Sousa - Guy. Also thanks to Rob who covered for our drummers who were away doing DofE and finally to Arthur who stepped into the Drum Majors shoes to lead us smartly around Bradford.

Pictures from both parades are now on our photo site.
