On what was the hottest weekend of the year, the Corps enjoyed the sun in what was ideal weather, if not a little hot a little hot for us Queensbury folk !
Saturday - started with learning part 4, the Ballard which over 2 sessions we accomplished really well. With the piece lasting over 3 minutes it's a good chunk of show and the progress made was excellent.
We soon had it up and running with the music, a few tricky phrases and the usual with members remembering the music were forgetting steps off but all part of the learning process.
After tea we recapped part 2 & 3, then added part 4 before we finished for the night. I was very pleased with the progress.
Sunday - we started learning part 5 and before lunch had almost completed it, cheating at the end just running the last 7 sets without recapping them - to do another day!
Most of the members by after dinner had too much sun, and we taking it in turns to visit the bar and a lie down (so they tell me) in a dark room and hopefully not under the beer pumps.
By the end of the day we did a run of parts 1 to 4, with members very tired there were plenty of bits to clean and tidy, however with 3 weeks to get the confidence up and music memorised, I have full confidence the show will jump on leaps and bounds.
Batley now Barnsley is only 3 weeks!
