Pete Denton studied tuba and percussion at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and has over 25 years experience as a tuba player in some of the UK’s leading brass bands and local orchestras. He has won numerous solo prizes as a tuba player and has a string of fine brass band contest victories behind him. He has competed in the Championship Section Finals of the National Brass Band Championships in the Royal Albert Hall some 8 times and the European Brass Band Championships 3 times.
As an educationalist, Pete was Head of East Leeds Music Centre for 3 years before becoming Assistant Musical Director of the Sellers International Youth Band in 2005 – a position which he still holds today. He has also worked as Musical Director with Blaenavon Town, Tintwistle and Eagley Brass Bands.
Pete joined the Revolution team in the autumn of 2009 and is looking forward to helping them to meet the challenges posed by their recent promotion to Division 1. His main aims for 2010/11 include:
· Helping people to learn their music more quickly
· Developing common learning tools for brass, pit and drums
· Helping people to improve their self confidence and set themselves stretching musical targets
· Supporting a new Junior Revolution
Here’s to a fun year!
