Rock & Rail

All Aboard as Revolution Show Corps invite you to join them for their 2008 production.

Rock & Rail

The sound of the railways return to Queensbury as Revolution combines the history of our village with rock music.

As the Corps wait at the platform the tuned percussion set the scene with Coronation Scot, the train can be heard arriving "All Aboard" as we break into Ozzy Osborne's Crazy Train the tempo increases as we go "over the alps" and into AC/DC's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. Arriving at the station we pause for breath and take in the views overlooking the Queensbury triangle Novus by Carlos Santana lets out the steam.

With the boiler fully stoked up our crazy train pulls away from the station to Metallica's Breadfan gathering tempo quickly as we head through the tunnels and out of the village, is that Thomas the Tank Engine we hear as we go full steam ahead. With a reprise of Coronation Scot we finish our production to Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones.

Revolution look forward to entertaining you on the field in 2008 with our different look at rock music.

The lost railway of Bradford.

>There is little evidence that a railway ever served the village of Queensbury, but in fact the village, high on the hills between Bradford and Halifax had a station that was special, and it was built on a line that was special. The drivers of the Great Northern Railway, who built the line, nicknamed their journeys over the line as going "over the Alps" in clear reference to steep gradients required to lift trains from Bradford before they could drop down to Keighley and Halifax. The line had some fine architecture, including Thornton and Hewenden viaducts, and fearsome tunnel which bored its way under Queensbury, before emerging into Strines tunnel below Ambler Thorn.
